Michaela Warrilow
Michaela graduated from Manchester School of Theatre in 1987, and has been working with drama ever since. In addition to her performing as a professional actress, she began working with both children and adults with learning difficulties for the Social Services, and then worked for the Probation Service, with amongst others, high-risk offenders. She has trained youth workers for the NFYW and coached top management executives in both presenting to camera, and making live presentations to large audiences, as well as role-play training.
Since becoming freelance in 1999, she has worked for clients such as Crewe Lyceum, Stafford Gatehouse and the New Vic Theatre on projects including: Borderlines and Education, performing, directing and teaching drama, and facilitating drama focus groups, and also teaching drama for Seabridge Embodied Arts.
She co-wrote and directed a play called Bereaved that was awarded the Silver Jubilee Trophy for Best Junior Group. She then co-wrote and directed Audition that was awarded the Charles Raines Trophy for Best Original Play, at the 57th Annual One-Act Play Festival, in Stoke-on-Trent. In 2004 Michaela was again awarded the Charles Raines Trophy for Best Original Play for All Our Yesterdays. This year she has been awarded the David Lodge Memorial Trophy for All Our Yesterdays.
In 2002 she wrote and directed The Lady of Lanarth a full-length play for Seabridge Embodied Arts Summer School. This was followed the next year by Charlie and the China Factory a musical extravaganza taking a look at the decline of the pottery industry through the eyes of two twelve year old girls escorted through time by a talking pottery cat and a clock! Forty young people at The Repertory Theatre in Shelton performed this.
